Off to the Amirantes group of islands to continue the long-term monitoring of coral reefs and fish. The aim is to designate D’Arros as a marine protected area, which will provide relief for the shark and coral reef fish species currently fished. We had an intern with us from Mexico, Frida Lara, who assisted with underwater surveys, assessing footage from the Baited Remote Underwater Video Stations and with identifying blacktip reef sharks. It was brilliant to be back on D’Arros and to see the wonderful reefs.
