What a great opportunity to work with Dr. Cynthia Awruch at the University of Tasmania to analyse reproductive hormones of sharks using a blood sample. This lead to a discussion with St. Matthew’s Vet School’s Associate Dean Karen Rosenthal and Assistant Professor Samantha Shields on what we understand of basic shark blood chemistry.
It turns out, very little is known so we have embarked on work to bring knowledge to this area. Sam has been a real trouper in the field, she is helping with the scientific longling with Cat Millar in the photo. We have suggested that Sam drop her day job and join us full time! Karen has encyclopaedic knowledge of the machines to do the analyses and Mauvis has a whole new vocabulary now.
